Gardai investigating alleged assault at under-14 camogie match in Waterford

Gardai are investigating an alleged assault of a man in his 40s at an under-14 camogie match between Waterford clubs Tramore and Portlaw on Thursday evening.

The incident took place during a Championship semi-final in Tramore - with another man in his 40s arrested at the scene and later released without charge.

A statement issued by Gardai on Friday evening read: "Gardaí are investigating the assault of a male in his 40s that occurred at a GAA club in Tramore, Co. Waterford yesterday, Thursday 27th August 2020, at approximately 7:20pm.

"A male in his 40s was arrested in relation to this. He has since been released without charge with a file being prepared for the DPP."

A Waterford Camogie spokesperson said they were aware of the incident when contacted by Irish Mirror Sport but would not be commenting further.

Both clubs have also been contacted for comment.
