Gardai have launched an investigation after a man's body was found at in house in Cork city on Tuesday.
The man, who was in his 70s, was found dead at a property on Barrack Street this morning.
His remains were discovered by an ambulance crew who then notified gardai.
The man has been taken to the City Morgue at Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will take place in due course.
Gardai are "investigating all the circumstances" surrounding the discovery and the results of the post mortem will determine the course of their investigation.
However, it is understood foul play is not suspected.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of a body of a man in his 70s, at a property on Barrack Street, Cork this morning, Tuesday 24th August, 2021.
"The body was discovered by ambulance service and ambulance control notified An Garda Síochána. The body has been removed to the City Morgue, Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will take place in due course.
"The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation."
