Gardai investigate sudden death of young woman in Leitrim village

A post mortem is due to take place following the sudden death of a woman in Co Leitrim.

The incident happened at around 5.50am on Sunday morning near Leitrim Marina.

Gardai are currently investigating the death of the woman, who was aged in her 30s.

The outcome of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating the sudden death of a woman (30s) that occurred near Leitrim Marina on 23rd August 2020, at approximately 5.50am.

"The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem is due to take place, the results of which will determine the course of investigation."
