Gardai investigate 'prank' shooting threat at school in Co Cork

Gardai are investigating an apparent "prank" shooting threat at a school in Co Cork.

A message was posted on social media yesterday by a student.

It is believed that the student made a comment to a friend about a shooting, Cork Beo reports.

The comment sparked fear within the community, however, gardai have assured parents that there is no threat and it is safe for their children to attend school today.

Gardai have spoken to the student in question and have determined that he does not possess a firearm.

Red FM reported that gardai were inundated with calls from concerned parents after the comment was shared online.
