A garda probe has been launched following reports of a serious assault in Waterford city on Thursday night.
It is reported that several people suffered 'burn-type' wounds after an alleged incident involving a number of youths in the Dunmore Road area of the city.
It is believed that the incident happened at around 11pm on Thursday.
Gardai say that some form of fluid may have been thrown during the assault, which resulted in at least three youths being hospitalised.
