Gardai investigate as teenage girl rushed to hospital after being hit by van while riding scooter

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to an incident in Dublin that left a teenage girl seriously injured

The road traffic collision that occurred on Walkinstown Avenue, Dublin 12 on the evening of Wednesday, December 1 shortly after 6pm.

The teen girl suffered serious injuries after she was struck by a van as she travelled along Walkinstown Avenue on a push scooter.

She was taken to the Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) Hospital at Crumlin where she continues to be treated for serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The scene was preserved following the incident for a technical examination conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardai are now appealing for information from anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.

“Any person, pedestrian or motorist, who was travelling along Walkinstown Avenue on Wednesday, 1st December 2021 between 5.45pm and 6.30pm is asked to contact investigating Gardaí,” the force said in a statement.

Specifically, Gardai are seeking any road users that have camera footage such as mobile phone footage and or dash cam footage of Walkinstown Avenue at the time of the incident to come forward and make this footage available to investigating Gardaí in Crumlin.
