Gardai investigate as man rushed to hospital after two men spotted 'fighting' in quiet village

Gardai are investigating an assault in Co Louth last night that saw a man taken to hospital.

The incident took place on Wednesday, December 29, in Collon, Co Louth.

Members of An Garda Síochána attended the scene after reports of two men fighting in the area.

Both of the men were in their 30s, with one being taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in nearby Drogheda.

The second man was arrested and taken to Drogheda Garda Station.

An Garda Síochána are still investigating the public order incident.

A spokesperson said: “Gardaí attended the scene of a public order incident on the 29th December following reports of 2 Males fighting.

“A male (30s) was taken to Our Lady of Lords Hospital for treatment.

“A male (30s) was arrested and conveyed to Drogheda Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing,” they said.
