Gardai investigate as man injured after being hit by car while walking in Co Meath

An elderly man was hit by a car while out walking in Co Meath at the weekend.

The incident happened near the town of Trim at 12.43pm on Sunday afternoon.

The pedestrian, who is aged in his 90s, was taken by ambulance to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he is being treated.

Local radio station LMFM reports that the pensioner sustained head injuries in the collision.

Gardai closed the road for a short period after the crash but it has since reopened.

A garda spokesperson said: "Garda and Emergency Services attended the scene of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the 21st November 2021 in Trim, Co. Meath at 12.43pm.

"A man in his 90s has been taken to Connolly Hospital for treatment. Investigations are ongoing."
