Gardai in Carlow hunting man who threatened female shop assistant with knife

Gardai in Carlow are searching for a man who threatened a female shop assistant with a knife.

The man went into Hegarty’s in Riverside in Carlow at about 8:45pm on Friday evening and threatened the shop assistant, demanding that she hand over an amount of money.

The woman managed to get away from the man and he fled the scene empty-handed.

It is understood that he turned right, heading down Hanover Road from Riverside.

However, there have been no further sightings of him reported since then.

The man is described as wearing something dark over his face, a blue puffer jacket and dark tracksuit bottoms, along with dark runners with white soles.

Gardai have appealed for anyone with information to contact Carlow Garda Station on 059 9136620.
