Gardai hunting youth gang after building set on fire in busy Meath town

Gardai are hunting a youth gang they suspect may be behind a building being set on fire in the middle of a busy Meath town.

The old HSE building on the Dublin Road in Kells was engulfed in flames on Sunday afternoon in broad daylight.

Gardai are looking to track down three youths who "were spotted running from the car park behind the building across the field at the rear of the premises".

And officers have appealed to the public to help solve the case.

"Kells Gardai are investigating an incident that occurred on the 28th November 2021 at 3pm," they said.

"Gardai received a report that the old HSE building on the Dublin Road in Kells (beside Headfort Place) was on fire.

"We are aware that three youths were spotted running from the car park behind the building across the field at the rear of the premises.

"Gardai are satisfied that the fire was started maliciously.

"If any persons were in the area of the time and have any information that may of assistance can they please contact the Gardaí at Kells Garda Station on 046-9280820 or the Garda confidential line at 1800666111."
