Gardai are hunting a mystery robber who stole cash from an unlocked van after attempting to root through cars parked in gardens in Bray.
The theft took place on Woodbrook Lawn last night after the robber broke into the van and took the owner's 'emergency cash' from the glove box.
Posting in a local Facebook group, she warned other residents - some of whom had very similar stories to tell - to be extra vigilant at night time.
The post read: "Just to make folks aware someone went through my van parked in Woodbrook Lawn last night sometime after midnight.
"It was empty but parked on the drive right up at the house.
"It was not locked but what alerted me to the fact was that the contents of the glove box were on the passenger floor this morning. They only took my 'emergency' cash that I keep in the car and my parking coins.
"I have lived here for over 20 years and have never experienced anything like this before. I have notified Bray Garda Station just in case there is a pattern of events.
"Please keep your cars locked and eyes peeled!"
A number of commenters replied saying that they had experienced similar break in attempts over the past few months.
Gardai told Dublin Live they are investigating but no arrests have been made.
They said: "Gardaí are investigating a theft of a sum of cash from a vehicle that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 20 th July, 2021, in Bray, County Wicklow.
"No arrests have been made at this time.
"Investigations are ongoing."
