Gardai and Phoenix Park chiefs are hunting for a sulky-riding gang who have been terrorising the Park's precious deer.
Footage emerged on Wednesday of the disgraceful scenes in the Park as two sulkies sped towards a frightened herd of deer which scattered in all directions as one carriage flew right through the middle of the group.
The video was posted on social media by the Irish Deer Commission, whose mission is to promote and encourage efforts to improve the management and conservation of deer in the country.
They wrote: "Disgraceful behaviour in the Phoenix Park yesterday, we hope those involved are apprehended.
"The situation in the Park is increasingly getting out of control."
And the Office of Public Works, who manage the Park, spoke to Dublin Live and said that the footage has been forwarded on to Gardai.
They also revealed that Park management and Gardai have been working together "for some time" to track down the group.
A spokesperson said: "The OPW is aware of this video on social media and have forwarded it to An Garda Síochana.
"We have also been liaising with An Garda Síochana for some time in relation to antisocial behaviour of a small number of individuals who use horse drawn carts in the Phoenix Park."
Concerned citizens expressed their anger and sadness at the scenes.
One upset replier wrote: "Watching this video really upset me.
"If you see anyone doing something similar please report it.
"These actions have a really negative effect on the welfare and wellbeing of the deer in the park."
Another said: "How the hell do they transport those [carriages] in there? Awful behaviour."
