Gardai are hunting two men after goods worth a suspected €20,000 were stolen from a Boots store.
The two hooded men, dressed in black and wearing gloves, cut the security wire at the back of the Carton Shopping Centre, Maynooth, Co Kildare at around 4am this morning.
They then gained access to the store, and within a 10 minute time frame, took thousands of euro worth of high end fragrances.
It is understood that they likely accessed the site via the canal path, to which they could only have gained access via a security barrier at Pikes Bridge, opposite the entrance to Carton House.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardai at Maynooth on 01 629 2380.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of burglary that occurred at retail premises at Carton Square Shopping Centre, Maynooth, Co Kildare on Wednesday 4 December 2019 at approximately 5.00am.
"A number of items were taken. There have been no arrests. Investigations are ongoing."
A spokeswoman for Boots Ireland said: "‘We are aware of an incident in our Maynooth store in the early hours of this morning and are assisting Gardai with their enquiries.
"The store opened for normal trading this morning."
