Gardai hunt gunman after young man blasted twice in drive-by shooting in Coolock

A gunman escaped in a waiting car after blasting a young man twice in broad daylight yesterday evening.

Garda have launched an investigation into the shooting, which took place in Belcamp Crescent, Coolock at 7.30pm last night.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was rushed to nearby Beaumont Hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds to his leg. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses reported that a silver or grey Volkswagen Boro approached the victim before a passenger got out and shot hi twice with a handgun. The passenger then got back in and the car sped off.

Gardaí are carrying out a technical examination at the scene and house to house enquiries have begun in the area of the shooting.
