Gardai hunt for thieving cyclist who ambushed cash in transit van in North Dublin

Gardai are on the hunt for a thieving cyclist who held up a cash in transit in North Dublin on Tuesday.

The van had been making a delivery on Beaumont Road when the man ambushed them on his push bike before making a getaway with the cashbox.

Gardai are now appealing for witnesses as the man escaped in the Trim Road direction.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a Cash in Transit robbery that occurred Tuesday 7th May 2019.

Gardai remind cyclists 'rules apply to you too' after number of fines issued for same breach in Dublin city centre 

"At approximately 2.00pm a cash in transit van was making a delivery to a premises on the Beaumont Road, Dublin 9, when one man on a push bike, approached the security guard demanding cash.

"He fled towards Trim Rd with a cash box.

"No arrests have been made and no persons were injured."
