Gardai hunt for graveyard crime gang as headstone desecrated and 'rat' graffiti sprayed on wall in Kentstown

Gardai are currently on the hunt for a crime gang who desecrated a headstone before spraying graffiti all over the grounds of a sacred Meath area.

The group caused criminal damage to St Mary’s Church of Ireland graveyard in Kentstown with Navan officers pleading with the public to come forward with information.

The headstone was left unrecognisable as the brutes sprayed over the grey grave with green and red paint almost covering out the name.

Their act of vandalism didn't stop there, soon turning their attention to the surroundings beside the plot.

Graffiti was sprayed on a wall and a tree at the graveyard too with one of the captions claiming that a named person was "a rat".

A Garda spokesman said: "Criminal damage incident in graveyard.

"Gardaí are investigating a criminal damage incident which occurred in the graveyard at St Mary’s Church of Ireland in Kentstown.

"Graffiti was sprayed on a wall, a headstone and on a tree at the graveyard over the weekend.

"Anybody who can assist in helping identify those who committed this crime should contact Navan Garda Station on 046-9079930 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111."
