A garda hunt is currently underway for a driver who fled the scene after the vehicle they were driving ram-raided a shop in south Dublin.
The front of the Spar store at Woodstown Shopping Centre in Knocklyon was wrecked by a blue car which smashed into the shop in the early hours of Friday morning.
Gardai were notified about the bizarre incident by an alarm company with the car causing severe damage to the premises.
When Gardai arrived, the driver had already fled the scene and despite the smash, they confirmed no entry had been gained to the shop.
A spokesman for Gardaí said: "We are investigating an incident of criminal damage at a retail premises at Woodstown Shopping Centre on the Ballycullen Road, Dublin 16.
"A car crashed into the front of the store but no entry was gained to the premises.
"Gardaí were originally notified of the incident by an alarm company. A significant amount of criminal damage was caused and investigations are ongoing."
