Gardai hoping to charge second man with brutal murder of teenager Keane Mulready-Woods

Gardai want to charge a second man with the brutal murder of teenager Keane Mulready-Woods, the Irish Mirror can reveal.

The suspect is in his mid-20s and is currently in prison for other crimes.

A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The man survived an assassination attempt the day after the 17-year-old was reported missing in January last year.

Keane had been abducted the night before and was killed several hours later in a house at Rathmullen Park, Drogheda, Co Louth.

He was stabbed in the neck and his body was dismembered.

The man was questioned by detectives several months ago and was a known associate of Dublin gangster Robbie Lawlor, who sided with two local brothers against the rival Maguire Traveller gang in the Drogheda drugs feud. He has received death threats in prison over the teenager’s murder.

Keane got caught up in the feud and fell out with Lawlor and the brothers, who turned on him.

Detectives believe Lawlor was also involved in the killing before he was shot dead in Belfast last April.

So far 10 people have been quizzed about Keane’s murder.

A number are likely to be charged with aiding and abetting the killers. Files on each suspect have gone to the DPP.

A Garda source said: “We hope to be charging some of these people sooner rather than later.”

Two men have so far been formally charged in relation to Keane’s death, one with murder and the other with impeding a murder probe.
