Gardai help the public to rescue stranded ducklings in busy Tipperary town

Local Gardai have been praised after helping to rescue a mother duck and 13 ducklings after they got stranded in a busy Irish town.

Calls were made after the family were caught out on the Slievenamon Road in Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

We can only assume they had wandered off from the nearby River Suir, which runs through the county.

Regardless, officers came prepared - shuffling the family into a large cardboard box.

From there, all of the crew were deposited back into the river to find their way home.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Thurles were alerted to a major traffic obstruction on the Slievenamon Road. Upon arrival a Duck with 13 Ducklings were located with the help of the public. Gardaí removed the ducks and safely returned them to their natural habitat. A quacking time all round!"

They weren't the only ones to make duck puns.

One user came forward with: "Waddle happen next time though" while a second added "I presume the little duckers were fined for being a public nuisance?

But most were full of praise for the two officers and how they dealt with the situation.

"I am here for this kind of content, "A Garda’s work is never done!! Great rescue! and "That is some speed! Lovely." were all replies to the original video.
