Gardai have shut down over 30 house parties near the University of Limerick since the weekend.
The closures came as part of an operation to stop the spread of coronavirus by encouraging the public to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Gardai have told a Joint Policing Committee meeting in Limerick that they have shut down 35 parties since last Sunday.
More than 30 people were in attendance at each house party.
The parties took place in the Castletroy area, one of UL’s biggest off-campus accommodation areas.
Since last Sunday, gardai have arrested five people over alleged public order and trespassing offences in the area.
They have also issued 70 on the spot fines for illegal parking and breaches of the bye-laws in relation to the contravention of drinking alcohol in a public place.
Gardai also issued behaviour warnings to 30 individuals since last Sunday.
UL announced last Wednesday that President Kirstin May has been accompanying gardai on tours of off-campus accommodation areas near the university to remind students to follow public health guidelines around Covid-19.
