Gardai fine and give penalty points to three drivers for window problems

Gardai in Kildare stopped a number of vehicles on Tuesday after observing that the windows on all the vehicles had an "excessive tint."

As per the law, 65% of light must be able to pass through the window of a vehicle, however, these were all found to be in breach of that regulation.

After stopping the vehicles, Gardai observed that the average light transmission was just 34%.

Fixed charge penalty notices and penalty points have been issued to all the drivers.

In a statement released online, Gardai said: "Naas Roads Policing Unit stopped 3 vehicles for excessive tint on windows. 65% of light must transmit /pass through windows. Average light transmission here was 34%. FCPNs and penalty points issued to all motorists."
