Gardai find number of pubs and bars in Laois and Offaly breaching Level Five rules overnight

Gardai confirmed they found a number of licensed premises breaking Level Five rules in Laois and Offaly on Saturday night.

Files are set to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions after the breaches of Government guidelines.

Specifics have not been given by Gardai as to which rules were being broken.

Licensed premises are anywhere that sells alcohol and allows it to be consumed on site including pubs, bars, hotel bars and the likes.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí throughout Laois and Offaly continue to patrol and engage with their communities.

"Overnight a number of licensed premises were found to be non compliant with Covid regulations. Gardai will be submitting files to the DPP on these premises."

Under Level Five lockdown rules pubs are not allowed open unless they are solely providing a takeaway service.
