Gardai find man with serious head injuries after Dublin City assault

A man was left with serious injuries after an assault in Dublin City on Saturday night.

The man, aged in his 40s, was found by gardai in Parnell Square North with serious head injuries shortly after 10:15pm.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital where his condition is described as stable.

Investigations are underway but no arrests have been made.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Mountjoy are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault incident at Parnell Square North, Dublin 1 on Saturday 19th June, 2021.

"Shortly after 10.15pm Gardaí and emergency services attended at the scene of an incident on Parnell Square North where a man in his mid 40s was discovered with serious head injuries.

"He was taken by ambulance to The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where his condition is currently understood to be stable.


"The scene was preserved for forensic examination and enquires are continuing.

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information who was in Parnell Square North between 10pm and 11.pm on Saturday night to come forward. Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking to any road users (including taxis) that may have dash cam footage. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí at Mountjoy Garda Station 01 6668600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

"The investigation is ongoing."
