Gardai find 'loaded' gun in Dublin park as man flees from scene

A man fled the scene where gardai recovered a "loaded" gun on Saturday night.

An investigation has been launched after the incident in the Coolock area of Dublin.

A spokesman confirmed to the Irish Mirror a firearm was found at Stardust Memorial Park.

Officers believe a male fled the scene on foot. However, no arrests have been made.

The garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident at Stardust Memorial Park, Coolock D17.

"The incident occurred on the 5th October 2019 at approximately 9pm.

"It's understood a male fled from Gardaí on foot. A firearm was located at the scene. No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing."

The Independent has reported that the gun was loaded.
