Gardai find German tourist's stolen wallet and passport just in time for flight home from Dublin Airport

Hardworking community gardai in Dublin city returned a stolen passport to a German tourist - just in time for his flight home.

The unfortunate holiday maker's cash-filled wallet and passport was robbed from him in a shop on Westmoreland Street on Sunday.

He was due to fly back to Germany at 1pm the same day and would have been stranded.

However, quick thinking gardai came to the rescue, tracking down the thief and recovering the wallet.

A post shared on the official An Garda Siochana Facebook page said: "Community Garda from Pearse Street immediately identified the suspect from CCTV footage and he was arrested nearby.

"We searched the area and located the passport and wallet in a nearby rubbish bin."

Gardai then travelled to Dublin Airport to return the property to the tourist - just in time for him to catch his flight.
