Gardai find driver playing saxophone while parked on Dublin's M50 motorway

Gardai in Dublin were amused to find a driver who was pulled in on the hard shoulder on the M50 playing the saxophone on Saturday night.

Motorway patrol spotted the vehicle pulled in and went to investigate only to find that the person behind the wheel was playing some sweet, sweet music, Dublin Live reports.

They said: "We’ve heard of musicians going ‘on the road’.

"M50 Motorway patrol stopped to check out a van parked on hard shoulder only to find the driver sitting inside playing saxophone!

Gardai arrest man after €63,000 worth of heroin and cannabis seized in Tallaght, Dublin

This comes after drivers were warned by Gardai that "laziness is not a disability" after a shop's disabled bay was blocked by a motorbike.

The rider of a motorbike was issued with a €150 fixed charge notice for parking outside the shop and causing the problem.

Gardai said: "Laziness is not a disability! City-centre parking is usually easier for bikers yet this rider still chose to park outside the shop they were visiting and blocked a disabled bay. €150 fixed charge notice issued #OperationEnable."

And it wasn't the only driving issue in the capital after a driver was caught using a phone while driving.

After being stopped by gardai, it emerged that they also had no insurance, tax or NCT.

The car was seized as a result.

Number of homeless in Ireland will rise to 30,000, Fr Peter McVerry warns country

They said: "DMR South Central Roads Policing Unit this morning stopped this car as the driver was using the phone while driving. The car had no insurance, tax or NCT and was seized. FCPNs to follow. #arrivealive."

There was also some "ruff justice" for a passenger after the driver of the truck they were in was caught using the vehicle while on a 10 year ban.

The driver was arrested and charged, and is facing a court date in the near future.

Gardai said: "As part of an ongoing operation targeting Disqualified drivers, DMR Roads Policing Unit stop this Disqualified driver on a 10 year ban with no driver / tacho card. Truck seized. Motorist arrested and charged. Court to follow. Ruff justice for his passenger!"
