Gardai recovered €40,000 worth of drugs from the car of a speeding driver who tested positive for cocaine, opiates and cannabis.
A man in his 20s was arrested after officers from the Roads Policing Unit caught him travelling at 157km/h in an uninsured vehicle on the M9 motorway in Carlow.
The motorist was stopped at around 10.30pm last night while gardai were carrying out routine speed checks.
After a follow-up search officers recovered 2000 ecstasy tablets and 1/4 kilo of cocaine.

The drugs had a combined street value of approximately €40,000.
The car was seized for having no insurance.
A garda spokesperson said: "A man in his 20s was arrested and taken to Carlow Garda station, where he was detained under Sect 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
"He was later released pending file to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Investigations are ongoing."
