A young man has been charged following the robbery of a shop in Dublin city centre yesterday morning.
Shortly after 9am on Sunday, one man entered a premises on Cathal Brugha Street armed with a knife.
The knifeman threatened staff demanding money from the till before fleeing the scene on foot with a sum of money.
Shop staff raised the alarm and fast-working Gardai arrested a man in his early 20s a short distance away.
The young man was quizzed at Bridewell Garda Station where he was charged in connection with the robbery.
A Garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí have charged one man following a robbery at a business premises on Cathal Brugha Street, yesterday morning, Sunday 21st March, 2021.
"Shortly before 9.30am a male entered a shop on Cathal Brugha Street armed with a knife. He threatened staff and demanded money from the till. The suspect fled the scene on foot with a sum of cash.
"Gardaí were alerted to the incident and the man was arrested a short distance away. The man (early 20s) was taken to Bridewell Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984."
She added: "The man has been charged in relation to the robbery and is due to appear before Criminal Courts of Justice.
