Gardai cordon off scene in Donegal after body found lying in lane in unusual case

A body of a man in his 50s was found lying in a laneway in Co Donegal on Friday evening.

Gardai have cordoned off the scene in Knockalla Drive in Buncrana after the discovery at 7pm.

Officers say the incident is currently unexplained with the body located behind a row of houses.

Donegal gardai remain at the scene.

A garda spokesperson said: "The scene is currently preserved and will remain preserved overnight. The office of the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau have been notified and both will attend the scene on Saturday, 15th January, 2022.

"A post-mortem will be conducted on Saturday, 15th January, 2022, and the results of this examination will determine the course of the Garda investigation."
