Gardai closing in on killer of Ballymun mam Lisa Thompson as family prepare to lay her to rest

Gardai are closing in on the killer of Lisa Thompson – as her family prepare to say a final farewell.

Sources say gardai have gathered forensic and CCTV evidence that they believe will help nail the person who stabbed the mum-of-two, right, to death in a frenzied attack in her own home.

A source said: “There has been significant progress, and the investigation team now has a good picture of what happened.” News of the progress in the investigation into the horrific murder of the 52-year-old comes as hundreds of people are expected to come together today for her Requiem Mass.

The service is due to take place at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Ballymun, north Dublin at 10am – which is just a few hundred metres from the home in Sandyhill gardens where her body was found earlier this month.

News of the progress in the probe comes just days after it emerged a small- time drugs gang used the victim’s home as a store for their stash before her murder.

Investigators believe the gang knew Ms Thompson was vulnerable and got her to hold tablets in her home.

Although no suspect has emerged, it is understood a man and a woman who had dealings with Ms Thompson are the focus of the investigation.

One insider said: “They are not suspects yet, but they are persons of interest.”
