Gardai close off popular beach after serious gang assault in broad daylight

Gardai closed off a popular beach after a youngster was attacked by a gang during a broad daylight brawl.

Officers in Laytown are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault on Bettystown Beach on August 3 to come forward.

One young man was approached by two other men who attacked him just after 7pm on the sandy shores.

A Garda spokesman said: "If anyone can help in any way please contact the gardai in Ashbourne / Laytown on 01 8010600."
