Gardai chase down two cars racing on Irish motorway before testing drivers for drugs

Gardai stopped two cars racing on the M1 in Drogheda on Saturday evening with one testing positive for drugs.

Officers chased down two vehicles doing over 175km/h on the motorway before drug testing both.

One of the motorists was found to be positive for cocaine, cannabis and opioids.

A garda spokesperson said: "Drogheda RPU detected two cars racing on the M1 northbound at 175km/hour this evening. Drivers were stopped and drug tested.

"One driver tested positive at the roadside for Cocaine, Cannabis and Opioids. Driver arrested and charged with dangerous driving."
