Gardaí charge four people following Christmas Eve assault in Kerry

Gardai have charged four people following an assault and serious public order incident that took place in Kerry.

The arrests were made in relation to an assault and public order incident which occurred in Hazelwood Drive, Killarney, during the early hours of Christmas Eve.

Gardaí made the arrests on the morning of December 28 in the Killarney area.

During the investigation, four properties were searched in relation to incidents of criminality that occurred in the estate over the Christmas period.

A number of items believed to be weapons were seized during these searches, including baseball bats, slash hooks and pitchforks.

Two of the people arrested, a man and a woman both aged in their 40s, are being detained in Killarney Garda Station. Two males, both aged in their 20s, are also being detained at Tralee Garda Station.

All four people are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The four people have been charged and are scheduled to appear before Mallow District Court on the morning of Tuesday, December 29.

The investigation is ongoing.
