Gardai catch Wexford driver for breaking five rules in one go during patrol

Gardai were on patrol in Wexford recently when they flagged down a car - and got more than they bargained for, as five different rules of the road were being broken.

Officers attached to the Divisional Burglary Response Unit were on patrol on Wednesday afternoon when they stopped a car in Enniscorthy.

Upon further investigation, a number of offences were found.

  • The driver was disqualified from driving
  • The driver was driving while unaccompanied
  • They did not have their L plates on
  • The car was not taxed
  • The driver did not have a driving license

A Garda spokesperson said: "The driver was arrested and charged for having no driving licence and will appear in Court."

The car was seized.

"Please make sure you and your vehicle are legal before you take to the roads." the spokesperson added.

It was a busy couple of days for crews in the south-east, as Gardaí in Wexford issued a number of fines for vehicles parked on public footpaths around Wexford Town on Tuesday.

"This issue is occurring in and around our towns and enforcement is a last resort." a spokesperson said.

"Please remember it is illegal to park vehicles on public footpaths as it is a major hindrance for pedestrians and wheelchair users. Motorists have a responsibility for parking vehicles legally and with due regard for others"
