Gardai catch two youths riding scrambler with no brakes in Limerick City

Gardai today stopped two youths riding a scrambler with no brakes while not wearing helmets in Limerick City.

Officers from Henry Street stopped the pair, who were speeding down footpaths in the Canal Bank area of the city.

Neither were accompanied by parents during a time when people are supposed to be self-isolating.

The scrambler was seized and both kids were taken back to their respective homes.

A garda spokesperson said: "Henry St Gardaí encounter 2 youths on scrambler along Canal Bank, Limerick City.

"During a Covid 19 patrol, our Gardaí stopped two youths with no helmets riding along a footpath with other pedestrians. There was no brakes on the scrambler and the youths were wearing only shorts.

"Scrambler seized and youths brought home. Proceedings initiated in this incident."

Gardai are conducting coronavirus patrols all over the country at the moment but will still be on the lookout for regular crimes on the streets.
