Gardai catch driver and things 'go from bad to much worse' with staggering rule of the road breach

Gardai caught a speeding driver before things quickly went from "bad to much worse".

The incident happened on the busy M8 motorway in Co Cork on Sunday.

Officers from the Mitchelstown Roads Policing Unit pulled over the driver after they spotted them breaking the speed limit.

However after carrying out a roadside test they discovered the motorist was a staggering three times over the legal limit.

Court proceedings are expected as the driver could now face a whopping €5k fine - and the possibility of six months in prison.

A garda spokesman said: "This driver was detected speeding on a very busy and wet M8 today by Mitchelstown RPU...

"Court to follow with a maximum fine of €5000 and/or 6 months in prison and also a disqualification from driving!

"Slow Down and never ever drive whilst intoxicated!"
