Gardai nabbed a motorist for a cheeky attempt to get away with breaking a key road safety law.
Members of the force were on patrol in Kilkenny checking drivers recently when they made the discovery.
When using their Mobility Device, they detected that the vehicle's tax was expired since April this year.
Gardai stopped the car but when they looked at the task disc, it looked to be valid until April 2022.
However, on closer inspection, they realised the disc had been changed and was actually the same April 2021 document but with a '2' placed over the '1' to make it appear as if was still valid.
The car was seized and gardai are continuing their enquiries into the rule breach.
Gardai from the Waterford/Kilkenny/ Carlow region said: "Gardaí from Unit C Kilkenny on routine patrol using the Mobility Device checked this vehicle showing tax expired 04/2021.
"Upon stopping the vehicle, they found the tax displayed was showing 04/2022. Closer examination of the disc revealed that it had been altered and was in fact the 04/2021 disc with a neatly applied second 2.
"The vehicle was seized under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act and enquiries are ongoing."
