Gardai were kept busy over the course of the week as they set up multiple checkpoints across the country.
However, one rare checkpoint was in operation as The Garda Commercial Vehicle Unit joined forces with the Road Safety Authority to examine school buses.
In a statement, a garda spokesperson said: “The Garda Commercial Vehicle Unit worked with the Road Safety Authority to conduct safety checks of school buses recently.
“This ensured that school buses were safe for the public to travel in.”

Other commercial vehicles were also subject to checkpoints over the week as again Gardai from the Garda Commercial Vehicle Unit worked with the RSA and the Food Safety Authority in a significant operation.
The checkpoint led to the seizure of three vehicles for road traffic offences.
Naas Roads Policing Unit recently conducted a multi-agency checkpoint in South Kilare that led to the arrest of a motorist and the seizure of three cars.
The driver of one of the seized cars was found to be disqualified after gardai used the mobility app.
Gardai found the drivers of the two other vehicles to be driving with learner permits unaccompanied, and both had failed to display the appropriate L signs on their cars.
Gardai will be carrying out a number of checkpoints throughout Christmas week and have advised motorists to drive safely.
Drivers have been asked to think of the impact drinking or taking drugs will have on their driving and have been warned of the presence of alcohol and drugs in their system the day after.
