Gardai were called to the scene as a swan broke loose on a busy road in Dublin city centre yesterday evening.
Officers chased down the rogue bird which was seen wandering down the Samuel Beckett bridge in the city.
Traffic was stopped as members of the force worked to safely detain the animal and allow vehicles to pass along the busy road.
And gardai revealed a vet was called in to take care of the daring animal after it was captured.
A garda spokesman wrote on Twitter: "The neck on this one trying to flee the scene!
"Gardaí on the Samuel Beckett Bridge yesterday evening waiting for a vet to come take care of this troublemaker ! (Thank you to Veronika from Switzerland for kindly sending us these photos)."
