Gardai called after anti-vaccine protesters target home of Stephen Donnelly

A group of anti-vaccine and anti-mask protesters targeted the home of Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly on Sunday afternoon.

It is unclear whether Mr Donnelly was in his Wicklow house at the time of the protest.

Videos of the incident were widely shared by anti-vaccination protestors in the aftermath.

In one clip, a man speaks to the camera before shouting into the intercom outside the Minister's home.

He attempts to conceal his face from the video doorbell with a homemade sign, while shouting into the intercom about Mr Donnelly's "suit and little bag"

A Garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror:

"Gardaí attended the scene of a demonstration in the Wicklow area on the afternoon of Sunday, 28th November, 2021.

"All persons present later dispersed without incident."

Earlier this year, protests outside the Minister's home forced Mr Donnelly to erect a six-foot fence around his house.

This came after a number of incidents which included items being thrown at windows and left on the doorstep.

Mr Donnelly and his wife have three young children.

In October, a group of people protesting against Covid-19 measures gathered at Dr Tony Holohan’s home.

The homes of Leo Varadkar and Simon Harris have also been targeted.
