Gardai call for help from public after 'serious' early-morning incident in Sligo near busy road

Sligo Gardaí are appealing for the public to help them out after a "serious incident" which took place in the early morning on Saturday - with a specific plea to those who may have travelled on the N4.

Officers responded to an incident in the early hours in the Cloonamahon area of Collooney, Co. Sligo.

And a spokesperson confirmed that they are seeking witnesses who may have been in the area at the time.

The spokesperson said: "Gardaí at Sligo are appealing for information following a serious incident which occurred in the Cloonamahon area of Collooney , Co Sligo in the early hours of Saturday 23rd October 2021. They would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between 12:00am and 1:00 am.

"They are also appealing to motorists who may have travelled the Old Dublin Road N4, or the new N4 Dublin Dual Carriageway during these times especially motorists who may have dash cam footage.

"Sligo Garda Station can be contacted at 071-9157000 or the Garda Confidential Number 1800 666 111."
