Gardai attended Dublin Airport to help deal with a medical emergency that forced a transatlantic Aer Lingus flight to turn around.
On Saturday, the airline's 3pm EI147 route from Dublin to San Francisco had to return to the capital a few hours into the flight following an incident on board.
An Aer Lingus spokesperson confirmed to Dublin Live that emergency services were called upon the jet landing back in Dublin around 5.40pm.
He said: "Aer Lingus can confirm that flight EI147 travelling from Dublin to San Francisco on the 21st December, returned to Dublin due to an on-board medical emergency.
"The flight landed safely at Dublin Airport where emergency services met the aircraft upon arrival on stand as a precaution."
Gardai confirmed they were also called in to help.
A spokesman said: "Gardaí were requested to attend Dublin Airport on 21/12/19 at approximately 5:40pm.
"A flight had to land following a male passenger suffering health issues."
Passengers were put in hotels overnight before being rebooked on Sunday.
