Gardaí were involved in a dangerous incident on Wednesday afternoon while responding to a scene in Tullamore.
An ambulance had been called to a house in the Offaly town, but when workers tried to assist those affected inside the house, they were assaulted by a male.
Gardaí were called and they quickly responded, finding the man to be "violent and intoxicated".
A spokesman for the force said: "Gardaí are investigating an assault incident that occurred in the Cluin Darrach area of Tullamore on 16/06/2021 at approximately 3pm.
"Two members (men) of the emergency services (ambulance) reported to have been assaulted by a man in the area. They both attended hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"Gardaí have arrested a man, aged in his 30s, in relation to this incident. He was detained at Tullamore Garda Station and has since been charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court this morning, 17/06/2021, at 10.30am.
"No further information is available."
