Gardai arrest two young boys after 'delivery driver stabbed' in Co Offaly

Two youths have been arrested after an alleged stabbing in Co Offaly over the weekend.

A man in his 60s, understood to be a delivery driver, was assaulted at around 9.10pm on Sunday night.

During the incident, which happened in the Mucklagh area outside Tullamore, the man sustained an apparent stab wound.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene and the man was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore.

He is continuing to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Two young boys were arrested in connection with the incident and are currently detained at Tullamore Garda Station.

Gardai say their investigations are ongoing.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí have arrested two male juveniles following an assault in the Mucklagh area of Co.Offaly on Sunday, 20th March 2022.

"The incident occurred at approximately 9.10pm when a man, aged in his 60s, received an apparent stab wound.

"He was later taken to Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore where he is continuing to receive treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"The two male juveniles are currently detained at Tullamore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

"Investigations are ongoing."
