Two men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of weapons and €125,000 worth of drugs in Co Clare.
The two suspects, in their 30s, were arrested on Tuesday morning after searches were carried out at homes in the Ennis area.
The arrests followed the seizure of a sub-machine gun, ammunition, cocaine and cannabis in Kilmurray, Sixmilebridge on August 24.
Both men were targeted as part of an investigation into the sale and supply of drugs and the possession of firearms in Co Clare.
They are being detained at Ennis and Shannon garda stations under the Criminal Justice Act.
A spokesman said: "Gardaí have arrested two men in their 30s, this morning, 22nd October 2019.
"As part of the operation, detective and uniform Gardaí from the Clare division carried out searches at a number of properties in the Ennis area of Co. Clare.
"Both men are currently detained at Ennis and Shannon Garda Stations under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
"This operation relates to recent drugs and firearms incidents in Co. Clare and is also related to the seizure of a sub-machine gun, ammunition and approximately €125,000 of suspected cocaine and cannabis herb that were seized in Co. Clare."
