Gardai arrest taxi man for allegedly driving four-times over the limit with passenger on board

A taxi driver was arrested in Donegal after being stopped allegedly driving at four-times over the legal limit with a passenger on board.

The frightening incident allegedly took place in Buncrana last night when Gardaí spotted a car being driven erratically in the town centre.

Soon after the vehicle was stopped, tests allegedly revealed that the driver was four times over the legal drink driving limit while working.

"Gardaí were shocked to learn that he had a paying customer onboard at the time of the incident," said a Garda spokesperson.

The taxi driver was subsequently arrested and charged.

He is due to appear in court at a future date.
