A garda patrolling a busy Irish beat on his bicycle was quick to spot a motorist breaking some rules of the road today.
The uniformed officer was on his "trusty" push bike when he spotted the Ford Galaxy car in traffic in Kilkenny city.
He discovered by using his Garda Mobility Device that the tax on the vehicle had been expired for almost a year.
According to gardai for the Kilkenny/Carlow region, the driver was then "economical with the truth" in giving a false name to the officer and attending sergeant.
The man was attested and his vehicle was subsequently impounded.
Gardai then uncovered his "true identity", and the motorist turned out to be an uninsured disqualified driver.
The man was charged with four separate offences following the traffic stop today.

Gardai around the country have been busy catching out motorists in recent days for a range of offences.
In Dublin, Kevin Street gardai observed a car driving dangerously in the early hours of this morning.
The car was stopped and the driver was arrested for drink driving.
In another stop yesterday, Naas Roads Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint in Naas when they stopped a car.
It was found that the car was uninsured and the car was seized.
A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued and proceedings are to follow.
