Gardai arrest motorist caught 'drinking from bottle in car' in Cashel, Co Tipperary

A motorist was arrested after they were caught "drinking from a bottle in the car" while driving in Co Tipperary.

The arrest was made after the driver was stopped at Rock of Cashel.

Gardai arrested the motorist on suspicion of drink driving.

A garda tweet said: "Cashel Roads Policing Unit: Car stopped at the Rock of Cashel, driver was drinking from a bottle in the car.

"Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “A scotch on the rocks”.

"Arrested on suspicion of drink driving. Never ever drink and drive."

Meanwhile, a van driver was arrested in Co Sligo over the weekend after testing positive for cannabis after a roadside breath test.

A tweet said: "Gardaí in Ballymote, Sligo stopped a motorist over the weekend, arrested on suspicion of drug driving."
