Gardai arrest man who tested positive for drugs following a road traffic collision on busy Dublin road

Gardai have arrested a man, aged in his late 20s, following a single vehicle road traffic collision on the River Valley Road area in Swords.

The man is currently detained at Swords Garda Station having tested positive for cocaine and cannabis in the in station tests.

The incident happened at approximately 5:30pm this evening.

Gardai received reports of a car flipping over in the area.

The driver was reported to have left the scene and he was later located and arrested.

Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.

On arrival, firefighters and paramedics from Swords fire station discovered a vehicle on its roof blocking the road.

There were no occupants in the car and the vehicle was recovered shortly afterwards with the road then being reopened.

They tweeted: "The River Valley Road in Swords is blocked following a roll over collision. Divert if possible."

No injuries have been reported at this time.
