One man has been arrested in Dublin after driving dangerously in a stolen car throughout north county Dublin before attempting to hijack another vehicle.
Gardai in Lusk were alerted about the driver on Friday night who they discovered had been driving a car that was stolen during a burglary in Maynooth, Kildare on Thursday October 24.
The stolen vehicle collided with a number of parked cars in the Whitethorn Walk area of Lusk as it tried to escape gardai.
The driver then abandoned this car and attempted to hijack another one in the area, threatening the driver in the process.
Gardai from Lusk and Balbriggan assisted by the Armed Support Unit arrested the man in the area a short time later.
He is currently detained at Balbriggan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 - Criminal Justice Act 1984 and investigations are ongoing.
